Darwin’s Defence Support Hub is a 53 hectare strategic industrial precinct for businesses that provide services and support to the Australian Department of Defence. The Hub is positioned to allow prime contractors and subcontractors to deliver industry support for Defence requirements, with a focus on the ongoing service and maintenance of Defence platforms including armoured vehicles.
The Land Development Corporation released its vision for the Defence Support Hub in 2010. The first two Companies to secure prime entrance lots in the Hub have completed the construction of new facilities and are open for business.
The broad vision for the Defence Support Hub includes attracting manufacturing, research and development and activities to support the Australian Defence Force. Developing specialist service capabilities for Defence is expected to attract further work, including other industries using similar technologies such as mining, oil and gas, commodities processing and transport repair and maintenance.
The development of a Defence Support Hub close to Robertson Barracks facilitates industry development and capabilities by co-location. It will enable prime contractors and small businesses to establish strategic industry clusters to deliver valuable support for Defence platforms and the Joint Logistics Unit North.
