Creative ways to use the hardstand
The Common User Facility hardstand at East Arm, which is part of our Marine Industry Park, is currently being used to store Inpex’s empty offshore 300m floating hose. The hose was transferred from the harbour to the hardstand via the Common User Facility barge ramp.
Inpex use this hose to transfer gas condensate (effectively crude oil) to an oil tanker periodically. The hose is currently stored along the hardstand edge.
The ramp and hardstand are very versatile and can be used for a wide range of purposes. Current hardstand users are building a boat and storing dismantled scaffolding and shelving.
In the past the hardstand has stored all sorts of things ranging from huge cranes; new cars; pipes; containers; mining equipment; sub-sea gas production equipment; self-propelled modular transporters; and even new aerobridges for the airport.
3 ways to use the hardstand
- Place a floating caterpillar hose
- Storage of materials or equipment
- Manufacturing and fabrication
Do you have a need or usage that the hardstand might lend to?
