Luring Ship Maintenance to Darwin

Luring Ship Maintenance to Darwin

The Land Development Corporation had the opportunity to meet with German ship-building company Luerssen in Darwin on 21 July 2017.

Luerssen are one of three companies in the running to build the Royal Australian Navy's new Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) as part of the SEA 1180 Project.

Discussion and a site tour focused on the Marine Service Area and existing Common User Facility as potential sites to maintain the new fleet of Naval vessels.

If successful in their tender, Luerssen will become the main contractor for the project with sub - contractors engaged to complete the works.

A majority of the OPVs are expected to be based in Darwin and as a result Darwin is a prime candidate for the servicing the OPV's.

To find out more about the future Marine Service Area and existing Common User Facility please contact the Land Development Corporation on 8944 0930 or visit our website.
