Truck Central Site Tour
The Land Development Corporation welcomed the Hon Eva Lawler MLA, Senator Nigel Scullion and other key stakeholders of the Truck Central project on-site to showcase the progress of the estate.
Truck Central is set to become a key transport hub for the Top End and will incorporate a Heavy Vehicle Inspection Facility, Road Train Assembly Area, Fuel Station, Restaurant, Driver Rest/Fatigue Management Facilities and 22 industrial lots for sale and development.
The $5.5M tender award for the construction of the Heavy Vehicle Inspection Facility was announced by Minister Lawler as local company Norbuilt. The construction phase of the facility will deliver around 50 local jobs for Territorians with ongoing employment estimated at around 30.
The 3 hectare Road Train Assembly Area is one of a kind, being laid by 150 workers, with 6,000 tonnes of concrete being delivered by around 1,000 concrete trucks.
BP Australia is developing the fuel station and plans to have its first fuel delivery by Christmas, with the facility to offer a dedicated 'Truckies Lounge', hot food and shower facilities.
